A Step-By-Step Guide to Skip Hire in Surrey

Thinking of hiring a skip? We've put together a step-by-step guide.

Hiring a skip can initially seem daunting, with plenty to take into consideration before hiring a skip to dispose of the waste from your latest project. We’ve put together this step by step guide to help you next time you need to hire a skip.

The first steps come before you get in touch with us to hire your skip. Initially, you need to look at the waste you are wanting to remove. Depending on if you are renovating your garden or any room of your home, there are certain things that we can and cannot dispose of, and so wouldn’t be able to take away in a skip. These include things like oils, paints, asbestos and electrical items, so you would need to arrange for separate disposal of these items. Additionally, any tyres, mattresses or fridges and freezers can be taken away in a skip, but come with an extra cost, so make sure that you take that into consideration when choosing a skip to hire.

The next stage is taking a look at your property and seeing where you can keep the skip whilst you are loading it with your waste. If you have a driveway or similar area at the front of your home, you can have the skip placed there to keep it off the road. If you don’t have a driveway available to be used for your skip, then you will need a permit from Surrey County Council. At A3 Waste, we take care of all of this for you before your skip arrives. The last option is our Wait & Load service. If you know you can clear your waste quickly, you can select Wait & Load through our online checkout, where our driver will bring the skip to your property and wait whilst you load the skip, then take it all away on the same day as it arrives.

Once you know where the skip will be going once it arrives, you need to consider the size of skip that you will need for your waste. At A3 Waste we have skips in a few different sizes, each of which could be appropriate for you depending on the amount of waste you have to dispose of. If you’re not sure, our team can help you choose the right skip for your project. We hire out skips between 4 - 12 yards, so there’s plenty of options for you to get the skip you need.

The final step before your skip being delivered is simply choosing the dates when you want your skip brought to your property. A3 Waste offers next day skip delivery across Surrey, so you can have a skip outside your home as soon as the day after you make your order. Once that’s done and your order is placed, just sit back and wait for us to arrive! Once your skip has arrived, you have up to 14 days to fill it with your waste before we come and take it away. We make every effort to recycle the majority of the waste that we collect, so you can rest assured that your waste will be disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner.
